I’ve decided I really need a dressform. With my funny measurements (short waist, massive hips, out of proportion bust), it can make dressmaking damned hard. Most of my clothes fit fine at one point of my body but the rest are a bit out of kilter. One of the biggest problems I have is the short waist thing. All too often, dresses especially, end up being too long in the bodice & so tend to bag up around my bust area. Trust me, it’s not a great look! So I intend to make myself a dressform. I have read up lots about making a duct tape dressform & think I will give this a try, has anyone else tried this?? Until I get my dream job or win the lotteray a ‘real’ me clone is out of the picture. Look out for hilarious photos & no doubt a triumphant boyfriend, relishing the rospect of leaving me stuck in tape! Wish me luck!!
Do please take notes of it step by step. I’d love to learn how!
Check out Aimee’s blog, Linked by Pattern Paper. She did her own dress/body form (but not with duct tape). Don’t quite know how she did it but she did it. Her link is below. Good luck! Can’t wait to see your “how to” and pics.
